12 civilians including 7 males and 5 females have sought protection with security forces at Kanagarayankulam in Vavuniya, Friday (Dec 12).
The civilians have fled from LTTE after been held captive for months in the non-liberated Mullaittivu area, Wanni defence sources said. These people have undergone immense hardships at the hands of LTTE, who had also revealed that terrorists were executing civilians at-will for defying their orders. "We were constantly threatened and thrown to work at the LTTE bunkers", a civilian was quoted as saying.
The people were directed to the civilian welfare center at Omanthai, sources said.
