Eighteen Tamil civilians who had been trapped in LTTE controlled areas by the terrorists as human shield sought protection with security forces this morning, 14 December.
According to the available sources, the escapees including 12 males, five females and a 4 year-old child are residents of Mullaittivu.
The Tamil civilians who were able to escape LTTE's grip arrived at the security forces controlled Palampasi area in Welioya around 9.00 am, have been directed to the welfare centers established after providing them with food and other necessities, sources said.
